The Meaning of -bag as a Suffix

今天我在上課時補充一個單字：dirtbag (壞蛋、壞人)，有同學問我為什麼尾巴接了一個 bag ，真是大哉問也！我手邊的大型字典 OED2 也沒有查詢到相關語源。倒是在網路辭典 Webster's New World College Dictionary 找到：

-bag：(Slang) a person characterized, usually figuratively, by (a specified negative quality)

-bag：(俚語) 描述具有負面形象或特質的人，通常用以比喻。

國外的英語文討論區也有人提到 -bag 已經成為定式的字尾（suffix），多用來談人的負面特質，例如：

＊ shitbag：(在軍隊中的用語) 1. 非常懶惰的人 2. 以欺瞞的方式掩蓋自已工作不力的人

＊ scumbag：受人唾棄、讓人瞧不起的人

＊ sleazebag：極為低級、骯髒的人

俗語說「教學相長」，便是如此。

2) one who deceptively hides their lack of work or effort
